I have a 96 Gtp 3.4 liter engine with issues. I have an engine that will not start. I have replaced the spark plugs, wires, ignition coils. Here is where it all began I just replaced my fuel tank and it ran fine. Now my engine oil smells like fuel and the cylinders are flooded with gas. I have fuel and spark but no combustion. Any tips??

If you are getting that much fuel in your oil, it could be a leaky injector or one that is staying open, possibly a fuel pressure regulator. At least that is where I would start.

Fuel odor is probably coming from the fuel that is being injected into the cylinders that is not being burned, so it seeps down past the rings and into the oil. You say you have spark, how did you check that?

Hello,
Sorry for the late response. I starting working on the car agin and this is what I have. I have spark at all 6 plugs (tested with a spark plug and clamp to ground) I have new wires, new coil packs, but no combustion. I can see the unburned gas on the cylinders. I have 45 PSI at the gas manifold. I have noticed some oil on the spark plug wires and a milky white substance outside of the engine. Any ideas on what will cause the engine not to fire? The only thing I have not checked is combustion.

I agree with the fuel reg. thing ,you are getting to much fuel in the cylinders, plugs are most likley fouled

If you just did the pump. did you kick the key on/off a ton of times w/o starting it? I've seen cars get horribly flooded by this, which can allow some into the oil.

-have you tried a compression test? i had fuel and spark but turned out timing jumped and i had only 30psi of compression!

-first things to try is to clean out the cylinders. pull the fuel injector relay and fuse. then pull all the spark plugs and turn over the engine. this will give you a chance to do a compression check too.

if compression is good put plugs back in and try and start it. 45psi is correct pressure so that is good.
