• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Troubleshoot nightmare. Out of options. Please Help!

So I recently purchased this 01 GTP with 100k on it. Love the car, ran great for a month. One day a block away from the house the car died. Been working on it quite some time now.
Just recently did the Gen V swap. The original rotor pack locked up. So long story short, the car has no spark. It turns over but will not fire.

So here is what I've already replaced new:
Gen V Blower w/TB adapter (Followed Sticky from Forum)
Crank position Sensor
Iridium Plugs
Fuel Filter
AC Delco Ignition Switch
ICM
MSD Coil Pack

I've also pulled the alternator + starter and had them both tested - Good
Checked every fuse, all good.

I've exhausted all options. Had friends help me with it too. All I can think of is chasing all my grounds next.
What about Camshaft position sensor?

Hopefully someone can give me any kind of advice. Car has been down for over 5 weeks now. I bought it 2 months ago. Drove it 4 weeks and now this.
Any input is appreciated. Thanks

Well it says he's missing spark...new lots of things...I missed the fuse part...my bad. But, there's not a lot to getting spark on the car other than CKP, ICM, PCM, and proper powers and grounds. Have you tried swapping out the CKP harness?

I suggested bent pins on ICM or the connector right at the FPR.

The truth is..you know Mitch....hence he's the issue.

I'll start checking for bent pins and follow all my grounds. The car will turn over but will not fire.
I purchased a HEI spark tester to verify it has no power. I just ordered a new AC Delco CPS so maybe that will help from aftermarket.
The only positive out of this is I'm learning a lot about the car so future problems shouldn't be hard to fix!

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it, I will post updates.

Why a CPS? Shotgunning parts at a problem is an expensive way to fix it.

Did this issue appear before the Gen V swap? You say there's no spark, at the plug? Backtrack from there... Coils, then icm... I'd definitely ditch the MSD coils as they offer no benefit over stock.

Yeah I agree, I'm already into a grand in new parts still with no progress. One night driving home the car died and would not start. After troubleshooting I found the S/C rotor was locked up. So the car turns over but will not fire.
There is no spark at the plug. Sounds like the MSD coils are useless so i'll return the new one I just put on. I just put in a new ICM.
Right now I'm currently waiting for my new AC Delco Crank sensor switch in the mail. I have a feeling the aftermarket one I put in from Kragen might be junk.
Haven't tried working on it because I'm waiting on that for now....very irritating. Thanks for the advice, its is greatly appreciated.

so I finally got the car running. I replaced the aftermarket crank position sensor with an ACDelco one, and redid the ground to the ICM.
I miss one nipple off the throttle body next to the 3 plugs, does this just get plugged off, when you do the gen 5 swap?

The thing that scares me is the car smokes a little bit at first. The last time the car was running I ran seafoam threw it.

the last thing is the car is throwing engine codes now too, is this normal because the car has to be tuned? After the gen 5 swap?

Thanks for the help!

So this car is still giving me trouble.
Somehow there is coolant dripping out of my TB adapter.
How is this possible, how would coolant be coming through the S/C?
Somehow I still have a misfire on cylinder 4 too.

This is a joke the amount of time and money I've spent to still be having issues.

Any input is appreciated.
Thanks.

It's kinda funny you have coolant leaking there. When I first met Mitchman... I was giving him advice on coolant going down the intake.

Thanks for the input. Long story short. The broken spark plug I found melted a piston. Which explains cylinder 4 misfire. So now I'm tearing into the motor. Again.
Sorry for the delayed responses. Been really busy. I have to make a photobucket so I can upload pictures.
Needless to say, I'm not happy. I've had nothing but problems with this car. Just hoping to catch a break for once.
You know how that goes.
