Trouble starting, dying, and surging

I have a 1995 grand prix se 3100 and and for the past few days its been having trouble starting and when it does start it dies. After I get it to stay started it surges at idle and 2000 rpms and lower and there is no check engine light.
 


this sounds like a possible vacuum leak. not uncommon on these engines, you should listen for a high pitched whine, or something that sounds like sucking air into the engine.
try cleaning your throttle body as well, they get pretty gunky.
