trouble putting vb back on

My valve body won't go back on after installing 4th clutch hub. it will go down on the side the fourth clutch hub is on but wont go down on the side that the torque converter input shaft is on. It's about 1cm away from seating how it should. Any ideas on why it would be doing this?

There is a bushing that goes in between the channel plate and the drive sprocket. It has 3 little tabs on it and if it falls out of place while trying to install it will cause what you're describing. Also make sure that you reluctor wheel is fully seated into the sprockets. Use petrolem jelly to keep that bushing glued to the channel plate so it stays right where it's supposed to during the install.

I took the bushing off and still had the same problem.

I'm at a loss. I'll have to . Post a video of the issue and maybe get some more ideas

Did you also take out the 2nd clutch drum and Input/3rd drum? Are you doing a rebuild or did you only do this to get the valve body off? Need a little more information to be able to help you out.

I have a trans torn down right now....tonight I'll be putting the channel plate and valve body back on.

I didn't pull anything other than the valve body and then I switched out the 4th clutch hub with a new one. I did try to pull some of the other stuff below the clutch hub out of the case just cuz i'm nosy but it didn't move so I just figured I'd leave that alone. It's getting hung up on the opposite side of that tho so I don't think that caused the issue.

I did pull the input gears up because I thought it would make replacing the input shaft/torque converter seal easier without the shaft in but I'm pretty positive it re-seated properly when I put it back in. I turned that thing every which way and pushed down to make sure. Unless there is some special sort of re-seating procedure I'm sure its in

The tranny is out of the vehicle incase that matters.

Ok, there is also a thrust washer that goes on the back side of the 4th hub and sits into the driven sprocket.....There are 4 little tabs no it that have to align and go into that sprocket. If not it will make that 4th hub sit up higher than it's supposed to and also cause that side of the channel plate to not fully seat properly.

Just to also verify here....are you talking about JUST the valve body or are you talking about the Channel Plate also??

The thrust washer is going on right. It's definitely an issue with hanging up on the opposite side. Not on the side the 4th clutch hub is on.

I am talking about the channel plate and valve body. I probably should have mentioned that to begin with.
