trouble getting the boots off the plugs

The boots arent seized onto the plugs. the problem is the metal boot covers, they are keeping the boots stuck on by there spring or something. The only way I got the front three off were cutting the top of the boots with tin snips(im replacing the wires anyways) and then pulling on the cover with pliers then they slid off. Is there any easier way for the back plugs? I already rotated the engine forward and I still dont think I can get pliers in there. Also yanking the crap out of the thing didnt work, and using a long screw driver as a lever to wedge them off didnt work. I have yet to cut the wires back there cause im afraid too. Any info is appreciated.
 


I honestly spent a good 20 minutes pulling and twisting... twisting is muy importante... twist and pull twist and pull...

They come off, I honestly thought to myself a few times they werent going to come off, but they always do.. it's just really really difficult the first time

Put some dielectric grease on there and never worry about it again.
 
Get a piece of heavy rope and tie a slipknot in it. Put the slipknot as far down on the boot as you can. Pull and jerk with all your might. Worked for me on the back plug boots.
 


Push the metal heat shields up against the heads. This will give you a solid inch of rubber boot to tug on. Relax a minute, sip some lemonade, take come PCP, then tug and shake like a rottweiler.
 
Mine were a huge pain too. I own boot pliers, but couldn't get them in the back 3. Like it was said, pliers help a lot. I had some angled nose pliers and I just bit down as hard as I could on the end of the boot and twisted it till it finally came loose. I also greased the end and outside of the boot just in case it wasn't only sticking on the plug. I used Iridiums, so I won't be doing it again for another 90K miles.

you could try an upside down can of compressed air. The liquid freezes the boot. If you do this on a warm engine, it might shrink the boot right off the plug.
 


you guys leave your plug changes too long... I've never had an issue.. I pull on the wires ;)

Zzp wires bull out of the boot tho. So don't yank those
