Transmission works when cool.

I have an 08 Base with 270,000 miles. Friday evening I was driving in town, and the transmission lost drive. No reverse,1,2, or 3. Shut it off for a few minutes, restarted, and it worked fine, just not long. Have not a lot of research yet. Any suggestions? It sure feels like an electrical issue,
 


Many times (but not always) that is a symptom of a clogged filter.

After running for a bit, the filter will suck up a bunch of crud and clog. Turn off engine, trans stops pumping fluid, crud "falls" out of the filter. Repeat cycle.

Especially if it's not throwing any codes.

When was it last serviced?
 
Car was given to me so I don't. As so as its warm enough, I'll check. I've been fixing as it breaks. Thanks for the help.
