transmission wont leave 2nd gear...

so the other day im pulling away from a stop light and i notice my rpms are rising and rising so i let off the gas and hit the gas again and the car took off like i was in second gear. i then attempted to manually shift the car and i noticed that when i went to shift it from 2nd to 3rd it didnt shift. what could be the issue here?
 


Tough to say. 1st, 2nd and 4th require power to the shift soleniods to work, 3rd is the no power to soleniods gear. Did you get the car above 50mph and let off to see if 4th gear would catch? It's common enough to wear out 3rd gear clutches and or break a 3rd gear sprag (makes 3rd work)

im taking it to a transmission shop near me that my dad has brought his cars too. hopefully its an easy fix, but to me it doesnt matter because i have a 3yr warranty on all drive train and electronic parts so no worries lol.
