Transmission Rebuild: CAT Fluid/Dex VI or Amsoil?

I'm hearing and reading a lot of things and wanted to see what you guys think as well. I'm rebuilding my tranny and wonder what will be recommended for my 04 GTP. I know Dex VI is the route but I was curious about

The Dex VI mixed with CAT fluid? And what's the ratio?

And or Amsoil?

Any thoughts...

If this was 2004 it would still be DEX 3 on the dipstick as I though it was 2005-2006 that switched to the newest DEX 6 as the older fluid was phased out (superseded).

For as simple as these transmissions are and for what the fluid has to do I'd toss that cheap dex 3 right back in it without a single care in the world.

Putting in DEX 6 or using amsoils or cat fluid isn't going to do some voodoo magic and make it run better.

Agreed. For a daily driver, the type of fluid is less important the the sustained operating temperature. Take the money you save and put it towards a cooler.

Haha true for the voodoo part. I've upgraded input shaft/chains and installed a few things in the Valve body from Sonnax and also added 3rd clutch piston from Sonnax. Trying to get what's best for what I can afford now. This tranny cant fail me anymore haha. If it does, it'll be my mistake haha

Yea, I have a TruCool Max ready to be installed and if I dont have the balls to modify it I'll still install a Trans Cooler I got from a Ford Explorer.. But this is what I've done so far..

Search on my name and the cat fluid. I forget how much Dave at TEP said to add. It might have been half or so.. but don't do it w/o confirming it.

The reason for doing the cat fluid was because it sticks to components better and keeps them lubed better under stress.
