Transmission fluid in power steering

Had a friend take my 02 gtp into a shop to change out the steering rack last month, and i noticed the steering was stiffer. Found out that there ATF in the P/S resv. Is ATF a sub for power steering fluid?
 


yes it can be if you go to a oil change place that does them a lot of times they will use ATF for both trans missions and power steering they used ATF in my power steering when they flushed mine out about a year ago really no noticeable difference except less groaning when turning the wheel all the way to one side
