Trans whine during left turn when cold

Odd problem. When I first start the car and leave work, if I make a left turn I notice a distinct transmission whine. It's not a bearing whine (that's the other side, sigh).

Doesn't do it in right turns, and I don't notice it after the car warms up. Any idea what this is? Other problems are slipping/shudder if I punch the throttle from a stop light warm or cold, but ok if I ease into it just a bit.

yea add a lil bit of power steering fluid...i had a similar issue...i used the lucas stuff that conditions seals and stops leaks...3 bux i think

Yep, it was the power steering. The sound I heard was coming distinctly from the left side of the car, but once I topped off the ps reservoir, which was really low, the sound went away.
As soon as I opened up the bottle of power steering fluid, I had a "that smells familiar" moment. Seems I've been smelling that the first few minutes of startup in the morning. Guess it's time for a new pump.

Thanks!
