trans slips off the line when warm

My 2000 GTP slips off the line when the trans is warm. It almost feels like wheel spin but then it will start to shutter. But if I manually shift into 1st gear it doesn't do it at all. Its almost as if its trying to start in 2nd gear. Can anyone give me some pointers?:(

have you checked the fluid level to make sure it is full, and the fluid is in good condition? If the fluid is all good, than I would say do a pressure check on the hydraulic system, and check for codes. Or, it could be the clutches are wearing out.
You might be able to get by by adding a few psi to the base pressure, but that is only a bandaid fix.
When was the last time the fluid and filter were changed?, a clogged filter and old fluid can cause it too.
Also, it would be a good idea to put it on some diagnostic software to "see" what it is doing. I have CARCODE and use my laptop, I can see all sensors on the engine and transmission and what they are doing, along with pressures and gear changes, very handy tool when detrmining the overall condition of the car.

I keep the fluid clean. I just had the filter and a complete flush done a month ago. I will have to scan it for codes. I will try it and see if anything comes up.

I scanned it and found no codes at all. I spoke to a friend who is a tranny guy and he figures its a hardware issue. Somehow it wants to start off in 2nd gear. Oh well. I guess I am on the hunt for a trans. As anyone rebuilt these before? Are they difficult to do? Should I bother rebuilding it or should I try to find something that's been built up with some heavier parts??
