Trans pan gasket

I got a replacement filter from Autozone that comes with a new gasket. The gasket is just smooth rubber though. Should that be okay, or should I go ahead and get the Felpro gasket that has the ridges on it? My old one is leaking, so I have to replace it no matter what.

Thanks,
Steve

Stock gasket or a new one from a dealer is all id use.

The trans filter package should tell you yo reuse the factory gasket if it is the ridged/ metal bolt hole style.

Take a good look at your current gasket. Make sure it's bad and not just loose/dirt in the seal etc.

I wouldn't use that rubber pos unless I had no other choice.

One of the beads on the gasket looked overly mashed down, so I went ahead and got the Felpro replacement which is identical in appearance. Very glad I used that instead of the terrible POS floppy rubber gasket that came with the filter.

It's funny.. I do a lot of these for people and have a bunch of stock gaskets on the wall from disassembling other transmissions etc. If they don't have a metal inlaid gasket when they arrive..they have one when the leave. I almost refuse to use the supplied gasket in the kits. Although it would work.
