i feel like the car skips 3rd gear and goes straight to forth when shifting from second? i noticed it will shift from second around 45 mph if i let off the gas, then it'll skip 3rd, and into forth? does that make sense? but it will downshift from forth to third just fine. The car is a 97 gt coupe
 


if your on the highway and drop from od to 3 how how high do the rpm's go up, say at 65 mph?


sounds like you lost 3 rd gear. im a member of that club my self. a used tranny swapped in was the fix.
 
about 2500. it may grab 3rd, but i have to let off the gas to shift from 2nd to 3rd when increasing speed. but almost instantly after the 2nd to 3rd shift, assuming that it does catch 3rd, it immediately goes to 4th. and if i dont let off the gas, itll stay in second for a while. then if/when it does shift, itll jerk hard
 
id get the car scanned, see if any codes are stored if the lights not on.

it dont look good tho. may want to plan on looking for another trans or a rebuild.
 
yeah, no lights are on, it does have 163k so that might have something to do with it. im trying to sell it and hopefully buy a GTP. that being said i dont really want to put a whole lot more money into it, hopefully sell it as is if im lucky
