I have a 2000 GTP had it about a year. recently I run into a problem with my transmisison. i cant drive from a dead stop in D, I can put it in low 1 and manually shift to 2 and 3 than D at about 35 40. in 1st when starting to move if i give it too much gas (not alot maybe 2500 rpm) it vibrates intensely shaking (chatter as some1 described). it will not go just keeps revving and shaking. once i get the car to a slow roll low 2000 rpms, at about 15 20 i can shift it to 2 with no issue. if im on a hill or shift too early 2nd slips and revs doesnt vibrate just slips. 3rd is fine as long as im moving over 30 also at this point i can put it back in D. on a side note i hit a pot hole about a month b4 these issues and blew a sensor for ABS so my abs and TC off light is on. dont think its related but i figured id mention. also reverse works perfect no vibrations.
I have taken it to 4 places for opinions. all have offered to rebuild. none have taken apart the tranny yet. i got no codes given off. would like any input on the matter. got quotes on a rebuild between 1600 and 2300. any input on a newer transmission? custom tranny? any other possible option that i am not mentioning.
I also would like to know where i can find out which transmission i have. xab or xbb. beside lookin on the transmission it self maybe a vin code?
has anyone changed auto to a manual tranny? i would love that... thx
