Trans is shot! How to start from 2nd

Well at 160k the regal is on its last legs before the car is put out to pasture.

Tonight the trans started to slip on 1st then it lost first all together after a few miles. At this point i am able to drop the gear selector to first and it worked now it to is starting to have problems.

IS there something i can do to get the car to start from 2nd gear?
