Trans banging when going into reverse - cold only

98 Grand Prix GT, when the car is cold and shifted into reverse it really bangs hard. Once warmed up it seems to be normal. Also, notice when cranking over it is almost like the car is already in gear, you can feel the car almost try to move when it first starts up. Really weird. Think my late mother in law is haunting this thing. Past few weeks have had the upper intake coolant flooding fiasco, rear window regulator broke and now this. Car has the 3.8 NA motor and about 120K on it. Any clues on what is causing this trans problem? Other than the banging the trans seems to be fine otherwise.
 


i sometimes hear that noise when i put my trans in reverse... not sure what it is but it might be just "false knock" dont quote me, but that MIGHT be it, i know they make these noise shields for the tranny... nto really sure where they sell them, but they eliminate "false knock"
