Tranny takes a while to shift into 2nd gear

My transmission takes about 3-5 minutes of driving before it goes any faster than 20 mph. after the five minutes it feels like a gear kicks in but cant tell if its the rest of first or if it finally shifted into second gear. It'll shift fine after that as long as I don't floor the gas pedal. Did transmission filter and oil change. checked shift solenoids and epc which were within spec. I unplugged transmission side connector and turned car on and noticed that there was no movement in D. Question is, is this normal that there is no movement in D cause all other gears had movement. the only thing I can add is that Reverse kicks in real hard. Can anybody help me?

Get the codes scanned. Light hardly ever comes on for codes dealing with the trans.

When you unplug the connector you should have (I think) 3rd gear as a default with both soleniods off.

I have a scanner. about a year ago it popped up a P1811 so i'm not sure if my scanner reads tranny codes but if it doesnt where can i get them checked?

now it makes sense to me when people say water will make the clutch material come right off if the water gets on the clutch discs. Long story short. I was coming home from a party 3 years ago and took a road I wasnt familiar with cause I dropped off two girls at their house. I dropped them off and kept going, up ahead was a 90 degree gravel curve. I braked and turned the wheel but my car kept sliding and ended up falling in an irrigation cannal. car sunk under water. well except for the trunk which had my system. thankfully, Ever since then the 1-2 shift kept taking longer and longer. I been trying to educate myself by dissarming a 4L60E so I can atleast learn how to assemble the clutch packs so I can rebuild mine myself. I know its different since the sprocket and everything but its all general; clutch packs, bands, snap rings.
