im feel i can tackle a rebuild of my trans and i feel confident i can get er done =-] lol but what i wonder is do i need any specialty tools??? other then hand tools patience and blood and sweat? lol thanks guys i figure trannyman will chim in? =] thanks guys this forum is so supportive =] i feel i need a rebuild on my 4t65HD because lately shes been shifting funny?? and its like slipping. also i noticed she stay at about 2800 rpms at a constant steady speed of about 45+ and it seems like there is a LAG from when i hit the gas til she picks up speed at high gears. just wondering how much a erbuild kit or w.e would run me and time isnt a issue for me i have no job haha. also other then this "#(%* bolt i hear about haha any other difficulties? thanks alot guys =]:th_thumbsup-wink: also she has 136 on the clock

my teacher who worked for pontiac for a good 30 years also tells me that "well i have a service engine soon light on" due to cat deficiance or w.e basically cat is shot im guessing thats what he told me. anywayz he said that with the code it can cuase the torque converter to act up and not engage or something? can any1 make sense of what im saying? haha thanks =]

lol basically do i need any specialty tools besides normal hand tools to remove and rebuild my trans chili

I have rebuilt one on a 2000 GT. I rigged up a clutch compressor and ghetto'ed some teflon seal resizers to make it work. Also really helps to have something to hold the trans on the work bench and orient as you wish.

First thing you need is a rebuild manual from ATSG. Search and you shall find...about $20 if I recall. I got the .pdf version.

Need a car repair manual to generally tell you how to get the tranny out (biggest thing is need to support the engine).

Be safe when jacking the car up high enough to drop the trans.

Oh, and the ***** bolt, you just need long extensions, no biggie.

Search and search, many people have done this and posted tips and helpful advice...that is what encouraged me.

nice man nice i hear a rebuild kit "new clutches, frictions and gaskets, seals, bearings are about 180 for a rebuild kit?? is this true? thanks chili i will do this when i have a spare 200 bucks ha

fyi...when my compG tranny hits the skids, I'm just goint to call Dave at TripleEdge next time.

Nice to support people that support what we do.

its way more cost effective to run your transmission into the ground and then swap it out for another stock one. unless youre pushing 12s consistently with your car and you go to the track often then your transmission should hold up just fine.

so i shouldnt rebuild mine and keep running higher rpms? i mean it still has plenty of get up power =] i left a nice rubber trail yesturday at walmart..... =]

oh, if it lets go then for sure youll be stranded, but if you know no one with a trailer then you dont know enough people. ;)

no i know some1 with a car trailer haha =] is it just me or are is the lowest gear "1" insanely powerful?? it throws me back into the seat and rips up my tires very well...... =]

youre going to need a new transmission soon. i only got WOT in second and on. the second i peg it in first it torque steers like crazy and depending upon where i get the pedal all the way down i might spin the tires.

what is the vaccum line below the supercharger?? it wasnt on all the way and i had a little bit of a vaccum leak and now the car drives and shifts perfect? odd huh? lol

not odd, the computer uses inputs from all the sensors for shifting and other transmission operations, the tee goes to the map sensor as well, which is used by the tranny.

idk guys maybe my trans is ok now? ive noticed lately its fine and downshifts well ? although i did find that my intake cone was barely on the piping connected to the throttle body haha could this be? i dont think so though but w.e seems good lately?
