Tranny Differnces: HELP!

Hey all,

I just pulled a engine and trans out of a 97 GT. I had a donor engine and trans that I was told would work in it and it was cheap so I picked it up. HOWEVER....just before I was about to drop the donor trans in, I looked at the plugs and realized they are different.

Here is the plug from the original that was in the 97:

And here is the plug from the trans that I bought:

The reason why I want to put a new trans in is because the old trans has over 200,000 miles on it and the new one has only 80,000. I just can't see any way in getting the new trans in there since they seem so different. Has anyone else had the same problem? The plug is actually in a physically different location as well. If you were in front of the car, looking strait down at the original trans, the plug would be coming straight at you. The donor trans has the plug coming out the side.

I actually have three transmissions currently (plus the original 97 trans with 200K on it). I have two trannies with this plug pattern:

The one I planned on being the donor:

And the original with 200K on it:

Can you identify them for me? What will each one work in? Am I stuck with having to deal with the 200K motor since the other three are different plugs?

A 97GT has a 4T60E. Not a 4T65E. It'd take some work to do the conversion.

I can't identify them for sure from the plugs, but it looks like the other two you have are a pre-03 4T65E and a post-03 4T65E.

It'd be a lot easier to identify them if you could tell us what they came out of. There's more than the plugs that is different (like gear ratios).

iirc, there are 3 different number of pins for the 4T65E. Mine's a 99 Buick LeSabre, 2.86 FDR with 14 pins.
