tranny cooler psi?

I had a leaking cooler line (leaking at the crimps). I had purchased new hoses but returned them as a couple of the bends seemed to be flattened, and of course I was worried this would cause problems. I ended up splicing 3/8 power steering hose and double EFI clamping both ends. I ran it at idle and no leaks, but others have suggested that upwards of 300psi go through these lines (which I simply cannot believe) and that the hose can blow off. Personally I feel this is a better solution than replacing crimps that will probably look in a few years again anyways.

Thoughts on this?

I was in a pinch when I had to swap transmissions on my regal as the one I was putting in had a different connection on it (quick connect instead of threaded). I cut back the ferrule on it and double clamped the hose on the cooler line that worked with it. Driven it like a raped ape and no leaks. You'll be fine

Thanks. Out of curiosity, where did you make the cuts at? I made one about 8 inches from the crimp near the radiator, and then I made the second cut beneath the car on the 2nd bend that goes up into the engine bay.

On some of the Regals, maybe GP's as well, the lower line was two piece. A metal tube with flare for the radiator side and the trans sice was metal to crimp, then the other end of the hose would get clamped onto the metal. There can be some pressure going through the lines, however double clamping usually works well.

If you have a flare tool, add a small flare on it and then you should be well covered.
