Ok so I pulled my motor out of my car and figured I would change out my tranny fluid while I was down there. When I pulled my torque converter off no fluid came out at all? Is there suppose to be fluid in there? I did not have any trouble with the trans before. Do I add fluid into the converter before I install it back? And since the trans has over 216000 miles should I just replace the converter?

There should have been fluid inside. When you drained the fluid was there any glitter visible? Did the trans work? If the trans failed, replace it. It could hold pieces of whatever failed and send that back into the trans creating problems. Glitter = metal particles, which means replace. If the fluid's clean and the transmission worked, the converter should be ok to re-use.
Fill up the converter (mine took a little less than 1 qt) and slide it back on the tranny, rotating it as you apply force until it falls into place. Mount to engine and tighten the converter bolts with a ratcheting box end while holding the crank in place. Torque to 45 ft-lbs. Well that's what I did.

If you drained the trans first ...say an hour etc before hand, then the converter will slowly drain down on it's own. Fluid in a converter doesn't just pour in and out. It takes a minute.
There is a vid of me putting a converter into a trans on milkcrates. I'd suggest having it held with something sturdier..but you'll get the idea of how it needs to hop onto the stator support.
