Too much crank case pressure

Hey guys having a big problem with my car, one day it started real ruff and I looked under the hood and the manifold was glowing orange. Gauges said it wasn't overheating. Well from this it burnt up the front three plugs. Changed those and put a new catalytic converter as well. Now it runs ruff and when giving it some throttle it shoots the dipstick out and sprays oil everywhere. I checked the pcv valve and that is still good. It also doesn't throw any codes so I'm stuck between a rock and a hardplace!

Can you get a video of this dipstick shooting monster in action? Not so much because I think it will help...I'd just like to see it. :th_biggrin2:

But you either have a pcv issue or no compression rings on your pistons.

Edit: what kinda car?

your not gonna like this, but thats caused by whats known as blow by. it means your rings are shot to hell. aka find a new used engine.

it doesn't necessarily have to be blowby, it could be too much crankcase pressure. in my case it was because the intercooler pcv line had rtv in it so the pcv was plugged. you could try putting a breather on the front valve cover to relieve some of the pressure, but that isn't a good permanent fix.

its dead. he checked his pcv.

glowing manifolds killed it. its over heated and baked the rings i bet.

do a compression test.

I'd have to agree with Scotty on this I have had this happen on a friends S-10 he had about 80 psi on the right bank and a clogged cat. Compression test is easy on the front 3 cylinders anyway easy check.

But no one ever wants to do a comp. test.

We had this happen on a clogged coverter/PCV issue.

Good thing we caught it in time, but man...it got toasty.
