Hi fellow GP'ers-
Just joined, and have a question which I have seen numerous times on the forum but am still confused. I just purchased a 2000 SE for my daughter. It has a standard heater system, not the dual control unit like my other GP'S have. It blows cold air only- Heater hoses are both warm, I replaced the dah control unit with a good spare I had, so I assume it's the actuator. Just where in hell is the actuator on the single base heater unit? Is it on the passenger side, or driver's? Is it a round drum style, or flat like the dual control units? It's cold outside (15 degrees) so the quicker I can locate this and get it changed the better. I've already looked under the dash and got scared. I'm 65 years old and there is 6" of snow on the ground, but gotta keep the kid warm so I'm willing to give it a go if I know where to look. Any help or suggestions are GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!!!!!!:th_sign-pontiacs:

Thanks for the reply, but I'm not sure whether the standard system uses 1 or 2 actuators. I would assume 1, but which side of the dash do I need to torture myself looking under? Thanks!

pretty sure theres one on both sides for all models.

open up the pass side, thats the easy side. see if its moving, you can see it turn. if its not moving remove it and turn the knob by hand. it only moves maybe a 1/2 inch back and fourth, so dont try to move it further then its will go.

do this car running and warmed up to test the heat. if the pass side only works the pass side, you have two actuators for sure.

I have both sides opened up, so will look again tomorrow (to dark now). There are numerous posts on the internet but all I looked at were for the dual system. I'll check farther- this old guy "ain't" to computer savvy, and if it says off or on I have a chance- otherwise I'm pretty much screwed! Thanks again.
