ok im selling my 00 pontiac gp gtp with a salvaged title,i got it at copart auto auctions, they signed it over to me and i signed it but i cant get it sent off until the car is approved road ready or repaired after totaled, ive got somebody wanting to but it in the morning but how do i sign it over to him, theres a section for a dealer to do something but can i sign it on the seller part and he do it on the buyer section below were they signed it or i did or what and i live in ga if that helps

Best bet would be to call your local DMV and ask them. I'm sure this comes up more than you would think and then you are sure to get the correct answer. Title issues can be a PITA to deal with, trust me, lol..

sounds like you have to get it signed off by DOT/ staties to get the titled branded and usable again. then you get the title in your name and branded salvage then you can sell it to the next guy. are you trying to title jump?

in WI you have to show reciepts/ pictures of the main structural areas to get approved for road use. they check lights, brakes, Emergency brakes, seat belts etc.

I just ain't got the time or money to put into it,it cost 125 to inspect it and I got to buy a piece of the quarter panel, trunk lid and a taillight,it seems like we can fill out the part that is for a dealer cause it says original buyers name and them says seller and has a place for address of the seller and buyer

The car has to be titled in your name before you can sell it.

Yeah, it's a PITA.. But ya gotta do it.

so you cant just title it? it has to be road worthy to get a title in your name? that makes no sense at all. people title and flip cars all the time with it never being registered or insured or inspected here.

i never sign a title till im at the dmv. that way you could still sell it. let the new buyer sign it. i got a few cars that were obviously flipped. the title name was not the sellers name, they told me up front, and they all cleared. no big deal really. except the tax uncle sam got cut out of one of the sales.

yea whatever you do do not use whiteout that voids the title pretty much

i bought a car where the guy signed it in the buyer and seller and he whited out the buyer side. that turned into a **** story to get straightened out

I didn't have a choice, the lady at copart already wrote my name on the title when I picked it up,im going to try to call the tag office and DMV Monday and find out for sure
