hey guys, new here. ive been searching checking out some threads. i think im pretty much set, but i just want to double check to make sure im not missing anything before i tear it apart.

im planning on this stuff:

lower gasket kit. Fel-Pro MS98014T - Intake Manifold Gasket Set | O'Reilly Auto Parts

UIM: Dorman OE Solutions 615-180 - Intake Manifold | O'Reilly Auto Parts


im trying to find the "elbow" coolant 90 or whatever everyone keeps talking about changing. any idea on what exactly that part is?

You can save on the UIM if you plug your LIM. See "How to mod a lim" by me (search on "E A S Y" without spaces and my name.)
Elbows HP47065 for aluminum ones or plastic 47065 both Dorman part numbers.
 


go into the parts catalog at advance...now remember bill, i do work there.....

in the parts catalog it will bring up the listing for the aluminum elbows right along with the plastic ones..BUT, it will state that they are unavailable...

go into the homescreen on our computers where we log in to check somebody out, press F5 for inventory search, type in "47065hp" and it will bring up the price of 14.99 and no local PDQ quantity...

do a further search for availability and you will find that we can factory direct order them from Dorman for 6 dollars shipping.

I got the Dorman aluminum elbows at Rock Auto for pretty cheap. Then I saw them in a "HELP" package hanging on that big rack with those Generic HELP parts at Pep Boys. Look at the Dorman website, under brand it says "HELP! - carded".

In addition you will also want the throttle body gasket FelPro 61093, it's not included in the UIM kit. Also may as well do a temp sensor, AC Delco 213185 and the coolant bypass gasket for the LIM (right under the TB) Victor Reinz C31274. A thermostat and radiator cap would be a good choice too.

I also did the water pump, the heater hoses and the valve cover gaskets since they are very easy to get to with the LIM and associated parts out of the way. If you haven't done plugs/wires lately this would be a good time for that too (I had just done that prior to the LIM). Also be sure to change the O rings on teh fuel injector when you remove them, new ones come with the Dorman UIM kit,
 
I'm planning on doing mine. There are some interesting details/issues to consider. I think selecting the most ideal products for the job can be helpful like using the aluminum elbows instead of the plastic ones. You can find differences in opinions on the best product to use on the lim bolts. My research leads me to believe the best choice is to use something that both seals and locks the lim bolts. At this point I am planning on using Loctite 518. On the o-rings for the elbows I am going to use a little Hylomar Universal Blue. I've heard good things about Permatex Aviation Form A Gasket #3 Sealant, thinking about using this on the rubber part of the metal gaskets and on the paper gaskets.
 
I don't suggest using RTV on the elbow o-rings. Clean the holes well and the o-rings will seal. As for the LIM bolts. GM in the later FSM's mentioned blue loctite, however it's not a sealant and those bolts don't typically come loose. A GM tech suggested a pipe sealant with teflon.
