Tips on getting the new transmission filter in?

I got the old one out, having a hell of a time trying to push the new one in. Any tips would be appreciated!

leave the old seal unless it falls out by itself otherwise your going to f it up and have no choice but to cut it out and replace it...

Use a rubber mallet and tap lightly on the filter casing above the inlet that goes into the seal.

Aka ...too lazy to walk to toolbox for rubber mallet.

PS. be gentle with the mallet..you can snap the neck kinda easy.

I just used the palm of my hand and the bottom of my fist when i did my shift kit.Went in after a couple dozen bangs lol.

I don't think I have ever had to "hit" a filter into place. Just make sure it is lined up correctly and steady pressure and it slips right in.

I put ATF on the contacts and had to twist the filter back and fourth.

make sure the neck is going in straight, if you have it tilted it wont go in. i also find it easier to do if you take the old seal out as long as the new filter came with one. use a flat head and a hammer to bend the old one inwards and it will come out easy.
