timing cover gasket confusion

they are offered with and without "sleeve N seal" they both look different.

which one should i get?

Can you link the stuff that confused you. Because I've never heard/seen anything like that. Someone else may have the issue.

I wonder if that option is new 'cause I've never seen it. I always did like like Matt says, RTV. Maybe this seals better.

It seems there are two cover gaskets:

paper for 95-05 engines.

and metal for 06+.

In the 06+, there was no solid pan gaskets, just RTV.

In the earlier applications you were still supposed to use dabs in the corners to prevent leaks.

From what I've read in the FSM's you should always have rtv in the corners when putting on the timing cover. The pan in the newer runs are engine sealant for the gasket. It's not RTV, but when doing work and using RTV to reseal, it's not an issue.
