Ticking AFTERr 15 min of driving

When I start my car, everythings fine..but as I drive it...the temp climbs up (210) and then BAM! a ticking noise....and then the Diagnostics shut it down for while. 0 power...then, the next day.the car starts and runs just fine again! Also worth noting...if you pull the oil dipstick..smoke comes out, VERY hot to the touch...so even though the gauge isnt showing hot...Maybe overheating??? Any 1st hand knowledge is appreciated! (im also due for an oil change..Idk if that effects the diagnostics at all)...*frustrated*

DTC's is just another name for engine codes.

So is the check engine light on?

As for the smoke out the dipstick tube, you may have some coolant leaking into the crankcase and burning off or the PCV system is plugged.

No check engine lights. Only one that says coolant over temp. See mechanic. I'm a girl sorry...what's a Pcv? And what needs to be done if that is the case?

Do you are getting a coolant over temp warning, but the gauge is reading 210? The gauges on the dash aren't always the most accurate. It is possible you are overheating even though the gauge on the dash may not indicate it. If you have a good mechanic you trust, it would be a good idea to have them check it out. If they can duplicate the problem they can also check to see what the temp actually is.
