Tick Tick Tick

The Blue One
So guys...I know it aint a rod or anything but I do have one hella ticking lifter...think I can just change the oil to get rid of it? I was gonna swap in new OEM Lifters since these are the original ones from my first blown motor...There isn't a low amount of oil in the motor and it is only about 1500 miles old...what gives?

Think it is just a failing lifter?

Not sure i haven't pulled anything apart yet as it is my DD...so I'll hopefully figure it out this weekend...

i also have this problem but when i idle for more than 5 minutes it throws a multiple misfire code along with anytime i go above 80 mph it throws the same code...

Tick noises can be a pain to trace but a lot of them are just due to having an aftermarket cam. A lot of cars that I have installed XP or S1X cams have a pretty noisy valvetrain. It is not always the lifters' fault causing the noise. Worn pushrods and rocker arms can cause the noise, worn valve stem tips, and definately incorrect lifter preload. Is it a very loud tick? Is it all the time or only after it gets good and hot after driving a while? Do you have an oil pressure gauge and does look ok with the noise?

there is oil pressure, and it is the strongest on a cold startup and fades out but is still noticeable when it warms up

There are no codes...except that one for a faulty o2 that I gotta get changed.

I changed my oil...doing simple crap thinking that I was nearing 3K on it anywho...so I did...started it up and all was golden. Drove it around the block and it started again. Still denying the fact that I need to probably take off the valve covers to see if anything is loose; I added some Lucas Stop Tick junk I had lying around and it cured it right away. My plans have always been to get some new OEM Lifters, OEM Pushrods, 1.6:1 Roller Rockers...once I the heads done of course :D

Now I got another tick and it is a pulley so I gotta track that one down too...I'm thinking it is the S/C...not sure though...damn thing is starting to fall apart LOL

Pop of the s/c belt and see if that one goes away. If it does, most likely the s/c coupler. Gotta change mine too.
