i just changed the drivers side axel.found out real fast why the axel was bad. because the inner cup has a peice in the bottom of if that came out and the tranny shot fluid into the axel through the sleeve that goes over the shaft .so i replaced the shaft and made sure the peice was in place but i couldnt get it to lock into postiton so i thought and put the retaining clip into the axel side inside the grove and put the axel on butv could not get theaxel past the clip to set it into place.anyway the axel is in and i took a test run and im still hearing a thumping noise comming from the front sounds like the drivers side. dont know what else it could be.i did notice that the output shaft on the drivers side had some play in it while i had the axel out. how much play should it have.should i check the hub on that side. i replaced the hub about 2 years ago. my abs and trac controll lights are on.i know that i should get it scanned and i will soon just asking if im in the right area of thinking. thanks for the responces and hope to help someone else soon.jeff:th_thumbsup-wink:

If your wheel hub/bearing is bad you can make it louder by putting more load on it- such as swaying the car to one side to put more of the cars weight on the bearing. Swaying to the right will put more load on the drivers side and vise versa. Also try to turn the car with the wheel at full lock both directions and see which side is making the noise and this will help find it also. Since you mention your ABS and TRAC lights being on that is often cause by a bad wheel speed sensor or bad wiring. I have replaced several wiring harness sections that go from the body of the car to the speed sensor. The only way to verify this is with a scanner to determine which wheel is the cause, and then with a volt meter set on the AC scale to check the output of the sensor not only at the sensor but at the ABS control module

thanks for you fast responce and i was hoping you would answer me since ive been reading a lot of the threads.you are in alot of them. just one question though , how much play does the drivers side output shaft have in our transmissions. my car is a 2000 gtp.im going to seat the joint this weekend been raining off and on all week. got my hanes out and acually sceen how it was done in a pic. i know im rambling on so ill quit. just wanted to say thanks again for the quick responce and are you the one that sells the reman trannies. if you are then im going to be talking to you at the end of the year. im gonna pull the motor and trannie and have them rebuilt and modded. cant wait to start that part of my build. like a kid at x-mas hahaha:th_thumbsup-wink:
