• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I know everyone say chain doesn't go bad in the 3.8. It has 208,000 miles and cranks won't starts but backfires when turning over. Got spark , furl pressure and compression. If crank sensor bad do you still get spark? How can I check it with multimeter? Is there any timing marks to line up to check if timing jumped it's a 99 3.8 htp

Was this an out of the blue thing or did you do something before hand and no this is going on?

Otherwise check plug wire routing, see it runs on brake cleaner or starting fluid.

A bad/dead crank sensor normally allows no spark.

youll wnat to use a wooden dowl to find TDC on cyl1 (through spark plug hole) then you will pull the cam position sensor off and make sure the magnet is near the center of the sensor opening.

make damn sure you have the ignition cables hooked up correctly....sounds like you may have misrouted em
