I would like to think that I would've done what those people did, but I'd have to be in that scenario.

Words and actions are two separate things.

I do agree though, wtf was that guy in the tie doing?

Agreed tho, I'd be helping as much as I could. Never been in that situation so I can't say for sure my place but I wouldn't just run away crying. Those people are heroes!
 
OMG! These people need a medal!!
I have been in a situation where help was needed.. It was in vain..
The young man did end up dying.. It was very upsetting.. Untill his family called me and thanked me for the assistance I did offer..

Im a motorcycle rider.. So I wouldnt have even thought about it before helping..
This makes my heart swell thinking there are still people willing to throw personal safety to the side to help save another human life...

Heros in my book..

I carry one. I'm going to mount it on the backside of my center console when I get time. It cost me a whole $20 at wal-mart and is good either 2 or 5 years, I don't remember off hand, but its a damn good investment.

That's the FIRST thing I thought when I saw him meandering around back there.

Times like this are when you discover what your "fight or flight" reaction is. Those that fight are not thinking about the danger of the situation. Instincts and adrenalin kick in, and you just react. There will be plenty of time to think about what could have been later.

Those that fly, on the other hand, stand in the background and watch in a suit and tie. Oh, and have vaginas.

Maybe it's just the way I was raised, or the way I'm wired, but I don't think they did anything extraordinary. Sure they were put in a situation that is out of the ordinary, but to me there actions were, to me, absolutely called for. Not brave and heroic, simply on par. I'd call them good people, but not heroes.

Agreed.. 100%.. But in todays day and age.. Where most people are not wired like you and I.. Heros.. Plain and simple..
Now where I come from.. (Friends and family..) I would expect no less..
But we are a bunch of good ol boys who were raised to serve God, Country and fellow man..
