Too broken to be broke $$
The Gtp has been down for a few weeks and I've been stuck driving a 2001 Hyundai Tiburon GT and I'm not sure if I hate it or like it just a little but this one had me rollin'
So, guess what I did in the big rubber duck(yellow Tiburon)?

I was taking a friend home and I pull up to a light and this guy in a 03 mustank GT keeps looking over hard as he||. He then gestures to see if I want to race. I was a bit confused and then I look at my lady friend and see if she's up for it, and of course she is. In a typical "ricer" moment I inch forward to get the "advantage"...lolz and he does the same. The green light drops knowing I'm going to lose, I hit the gas. By time I get off the line I pull about 1 1/2 lengths on him and keep 1-2 lengths on him. I hit second and I hear him bark into second as I pull away. I know he must have needed a driver mod but dam* he got beat by a Hyundai??? I just started laughing my a$$ off as he drives by waving a salute to the winner.The lady friend of mine knows bikes and cars pretty well and gave the guy a big thumbs up for his pride.
WTF My mind was blown even if he couldn't drive a Hyundai should never beat even a v6 mustang!
 


Umm what year and trim level of the mustang makes a huge difference! O5ish gts make as much as the current v6s lol and the newer v6 have better trans with more gears......
 


Mustang needs a driver mod. And 98 a 99+ GT is a little bit faster than a stock GTP. 1999 Ford Mustang GT 0-60 mph 5.4 Quarter mile 13.9 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 0-60 mph 6.5 Quarter mile 14.7 I coundt find anything on the 2.0 Tibby on zeroto60times.com but it seems to be about a 16.5 second car.
 
My Cobalt pulled a fart canned four banger tibby. It was a 5-spd car too. Max lulz. As you can see I trapped 12.0 and ran 16 flattt.

Even with a slipping clutch and a crappy driver, I'd bet the Mustang would still pull.
 


I agree, my next couple of guesses are:

Female passenger was actually the Stig, thus making the power to weight ration 1:1

Mustang had custom active cylinder management where you pull 2 plug wires off for better gas mileage.

Mustang driver was actually a W-body owner who is going around racing everyone and not going past 1/2 throttle to make Mustangs seem really slow.

Tibby driver was actually jacked up on hallucinogens and was, in reality, sitting inside their house strangling a cat.
 
I had a pontiac "sunflower"gt with 2.4l 5 speed and ate tibby's up all day long lol, lost to all sorts of mustangs though.
 


I just thought I would share the story, I like the guesses. I knew I would lose but I never figured he would be that bad of a driver.
 
I smoked an Acadia last night. Literally. Blew past him and popped a coolant elbow...smoked.

The Acadia owner got the last laugh, and I'm sure this GT owner was loling too. Nice kill though...ish?
 
I owned a Tiburon and they are great cars and easy to work on but weight too much and should have had the 3.3l instead of the 2.7. But they def sound nice for a v6
