• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

The dangers of replacing coil springs

This is why they recommend spring compressors to get it out and slowly let off tension so it doesn't break stuff and/or kill somebody.

Just to clarify, OUR CARS SHOULD NOT EXHIBIT THIS! Unless your perch is rusting through or the top nut is fuxored (and to be quiet honest never seen any case of either of those two happening). We do not have a setup like this, we have a MacPherson style strut. Use spring compressors before removing the top nut on the mount. I just want to make that clear. Of course there is an inherent danger when doing this stuff, there is an inherent danger when you get under the car to change the oil (jack and jack stand can fail, you never know when), just use common sense and you are fine.

yes dave is correct, this shouldnt happen to us unless your 1. stupid, 2. your car needs attention, or 3. the spring compressor has malfunctuioned and you now need to sue.
