Terrible Rattle Noise Coming From Belt Area

I have a 97 GTP that just developed an extremely loud rattle noise coming from the belt area at idle just as jpearsall187 described recently. Noise gets quieter when a/c is turned on or during acceleration. Have run engine with s/c and a/c belts off, but still makes same noise. Could it be the harmonic balancer? Anyone else have any suggestions? Thanks.
