How can I tell if my tensioner is bad? Car threw a belt, I know the water pump is shot figure while I am in there. Should it just spin super free like just keep going if I spin it?

it should spin freely. wont spin for ever tho.

check the tensioner belt on for these marks.

Ok heres what I got 1.) I cant find those marks
2.)if I spin it with one finger it spins once and stops no wobble, no noise

So should I geta new one or is that about right?

look at the top of the tensioner with the belt on. clean your engine if need be.

does the pulley turn smoothly, or is it gritty feeling?
