Temp gauge/ intake manifold gasket help!! Tips!! On my own!

So, I'm pretty sure I found the issue to my 98 Grand Prix. My cars been "over heating" but wasn't actually doing it. So after leaving me on the side of the road. I found with help from dad, my temp gauge is most likely broken open. So I went and bought what I hope is the correct part. My only issue is I have no idea where the gauge is located!! I assume somewhere by the radiator/engine haha. But if anyone knows where that'd be so helpful! Since I am doing this on my own!
Also, I apparently have a coolant leak with my intake manifold gasket. Now I bought the kit, kinda nervous to dive into my car this deep and screw it up! Any tips or pointers would be Amazing! Iv done oil changes an things like that so I'm not to scared, but screwing the gasket up ill be 80 bucks in the hole. And as of now my lovely mechanic friends/dad are not going to be helping. So this is going to be a mother daughter project! So we shall see how this goes! Tho I feel we got this since no men will step up an help so here we go!!

I believe its tucked under the front right motor mount, near the exhaust.
When I bought my second gp, it was over heating but reading normal temps,
Turned out the guy I bought it from unhooked it haha.

How many miles does it have, it could be coolant elbows? Unless yur oil looks like milkshake..

Oh okay, makes sense I think ha ha! It's got 200,000 on it but the actual motor only has 100,000 before I got it it was a drug car an got blown up an got a new one in it. The oil looks an smells fine, it's a small issue but my dad said it needs to be done if I'm doing the coolant flush an want my car to last longer! Do you know if the part kinda looks weird almost spark plug like? Cause I got the temp gauge part but have no idea what it looks like! Ha.

The sensor is most likely defective.

I bought a new one and it's defective. When the engine is at 195 the gauge on my dash displays 260+. However, my scan gauge reads the correct temp.

Its actually located under the thermostat housing on the front right underside of the lower intake manifiold. It's a brass looking plug with a connector hanging out of it.

Here's a pic of its location.

Wire could be melted like mine is to.

Okay than I got the right part! I haven't opened to look yet it's been raining cats an dogs all day. But it seems fairly easy to change just plug in an what not. I hope it's not melted but who knows! It's old, I think my biggest scare is breaking into my intake manifold there is a lot to it!

So I got the temp gauge sensor out! The plastic was broken from the metal an corroded pretty bad. The new part tho is a bit to big so off to auto zone to hopefully get the right size
