Im having a weird knocking sound on the driver side when i drive over any little bumps, its pretty loud too. It sounds as if the stabilizer link came lose on one end and was banging against the strut or control arm. I replaced my lower control arms with ball joints last summer, As well as stabilizer links and strut mounts. i used moog parts for everything so i do not think anything has failed, and the only other worn part i have the parts for but never got around to replacing is the inner and outer tie rods on both sides, could they be the possible cause? steering seems unaffected.

i rocked the car in my driveway pretty good and was not able to recreate the noise, So i do not think its the strut,
I am trying to avoid having to jack it up and pull the tire off, There is still a foot of snow in my driveway.
 


jack the car up and do all the push pull tests for each front wheel.

also check your sway bar mounts, the bushings under the caps breaks down, and the bar can clunk over bumps. or the sway bar end is broken, or the end links are shot.
 
K i have it jacked up now with the tire off, there is no play in the wheel, sway bar/stabilizer link (same thing as far as i know) looks good, they only have about 8000kms on them, couldnt find play in anything, tried with a prybar, only thing i saw but i doubt is the cause, The lower control arm sits close to where the bottom bolt for the stabilizer link bolts in, they could touch but not over every little bump i hit, and its the same on the other side so i doubt thats the problem.

sub frame bushings are good, trailing arms i will be replacing this summer but they are not that bad. The noise is isolated to the front driver side tire, was able to test it going over speed bumps, I am leaning towards a possible strut issue.

I know the comp-g came with stiffer suspension then the other GTP's, i was thinking of just buying zzperformance strut/spring combo with the gr2's. the struts i have now are completely stock, other than the mounts, so need to be replaced anyways, anyone know of a better pre assembled strut option? or is zzperformance gr2s good enough?
