Ok so i always hear about people swapping for gen5's ect so i have a cupple questions.....


The gen 3 s/c came on the gen 3 engines correct?

The gen 5 s/c came on the 04+ gtp engines correct?

Is there a gen 4 somewhere??

What is better about the gen 5 to make people do swaps from the gen 3's?


I have always wondered the above but just got some time to ask...TIA:)

Not sure what a "Gen 3" engine is. If you mean Series III, then no. The Gen 3 M90 came on Series II 3800s.

The gen 5 s/c came on the 04+ gtp engines correct?

It came on any Supercharged Series III 3800. Not just Grand Prixs, and not just GTPs (GTP became GT in the newer GPs I think).

Is there a gen 4 somewhere??

Eaton did make Gen 4 blowers, but they weren't used on the 3800s. Gen 5 was out by the time GM made the Series III.

What is better about the gen 5 to make people do swaps from the gen 3's?

The casing design is more efficient, as well as a four-lobe rotor design as opposed to the three-lobe design in the Gen 3 M90. This helps smooth the air pulses, making it even more efficient and easier to choke down by the motor. I think there is more twist in the lobes as well down the length of the rotor. Eaton has a lot of info about it on their site. Best place to get the info is from the maker. :)
 
ok so i have a gen 5 blower on my series III 99 gtp 3800 then right? and the same exact blower is on the 04+ right?

The 99GTP has a Series II 3800... :th_scratchhead:

If you swapped for a L32 (Series III Supercharged) then yes you have a Gen 5.
