Supercharger and cam questions

I have a 2000 gtx....i wanna buy a spare supercharger to pollish and was wondering if all the m90's on the 97-03 are the same. For instance will a supercharger off a 98 match up to my LIM? Also i eventually want to get a cam and someone informed me that if i do, the engine will only last 20,000 miles and Ill be eating up timing chains. Is that true? Thanks guys

Yes as far as i know all of the gen 3 m90's are exactly the same. If you do a cam yes, you will see a bit more wear on the valvetrain because of the bigger spring's you are going to be putting in. You should be able to get a lot more miles out of it than 20000.

It will eat chains if you can not install them right. People have beaten the hell out of their cammed car for 30k+ and not have an issue. If you build something right it will run for a long time.

I beat the living GOD out of my XP'd car with a stock chain and dampner. Now that I've got a stupid cam going in I upgraded to a Rollmaster Double Roller...with the crank gear matching the stock one in height. As long as you have the right springs/retainers/chain setup...you should be fine
