Supercharged gt?

Sorry if this is in the wrong spot and if this is a stupid question but here we go...i recently purchased a 2007 grand prix gt. The dealer had it listed as a gtp online so i was assuming it was supercharged but when i got to the dealership i noticed there was a gt badge on the trunk lid which made me wonder what was under the hood. turns out it was a series 3 with a supercharger. So i thought that was kinda weird and checked the vin number where it is also listed as a gt. I asked the guy if it was aftermarket and he said he didnt think so so i had him call the gm mechanic and he said it is not that unusual and there were supercharged gt's made. Has anyone else heard of this?
 


yup.

04-05 were still under the GTP name

then in 06 they ditched that and went to GT but kept the supercharger motor in it.

so everything on the car is correct.
 


I thought pontiac ditched the "GT" "GTP" on 06+ and went GXP and the 3.8 NA and FI? IIRC
