Stupid Timing Question

When someone says that they are on 18* of timing, how do they know? All of the timing tables i see are multiple tables through the RPM range

if your scanning you can see it stop moving when wot.

It's the peak timing while at wide open throttle

Just like boost, it varies with throttle input. At WOT you get your greatest number and that is how you determine the amount of boost you run. Same concept with timing.
