stupid question 1st gear boost

I have a 2002 Pontiac 3800 supercharged with a 3.5" pulley
no boost works perfect. Under boost in 1st gear car is like it hits rev limiter kinda feeling
Does the computer pull back the timing ? limit ignition or something in 1st gear?

Once I hit second lots of boost lots of power all happiness
 


Any other mods besides the 3.5"

Probably isn't the safest setup out there for a totally stock car...

Also...any CEL's? Sure there isn't a vacuum leak? Or maybe it is knocking that bad it's pulling tons of timing? LOL

I agree w/ blue. Without knowing what your flow mods are (if any) then it's probabaly pulling timing to try and keep you from posting about blowing up your motor. Give us some more info on what else you have and lets see what we can do to help.
 
Okay I'll make it more complicated I have this engine in a Fiero with a 5 speed manual ...cone air filter and 2.5" exhaust with a reprogrammed ECM
 
well has no DTC's through all this. Buddy has a scanner can't figure out how to read the KR and stuff on it
I'll try to get you all more info after the weekend
 


You didn't make things more complicated at all. You helped us a lot. By knowing your setup etc. We can help/diagnose better.

It does sound potentially like KR to me as well. Wouldn't be torque management if you are a manual trans, so it could be actual knock.

What brand and version of plugs and wires are you running?
 
Okay thanks all for the replies got it all legal now and on pavement does the ddddd thing at 4 grand in second under boost so probably all the time

Oh yeah really wants to stall when I come to a stop

Seems like ignition to me ohm 'ed the coils at the coil ends 6.6 for all 3 the spec i found says 5-8 so probably good wires seem good

okay the plugs that are in it are NGK TR551GP not stock plugs are these right for my combo 3.5" blower pulley 2.5" exhaust cone filter

Ive read lots that plugs make a big difference.

Smaller pulley.

No exhaust mods other than I'm assuming catback and that doesn't help at all.

Have you pulled the plugs to see if you still have electrodes left?
 


yeah pulled all the plugs all good now (one was cracked presumably from engine installation) to do a compression test bad LIM gasket

Are the plugs right for my combo?

I don't know who reprogrammed the ECU it is the right one for the motor but converted for the Fiero bought the project in the middle got it all going now now working on the debugging luck to me
