Stuck Wheel Bearing

Having some serious issues getting the passenger side wheel bearing to come off of the halfshaft. I have used pullers, air hammer, conventional hammer, a combination of the tools and nothing I have spent 6 hours so far trying to get the B$%^# off of there to no avail only thing I can think of is get the ol' torch out at this point and cut the wheel bearing off! What has worked for some of you guys on stubborn hubs? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Going through the exact same thing at the same time. It was a mother and mine took a fair amount of WD40 and a 4 lb sledge. Now the bearings off, new one's on but I've got some axle thread problems. See http://www.grandprixforums.net/salvaging-axle-threads-38550.html for details.

Someone just suggested I should have put the nut on before pounding on it, little afraid the nut would have been destroyed too but..I dunno. :th_scratchhead:

Hopefully you have less damaging success than I did.

Thanks for all your replies I ended up giving it a few good hits with the 8lb sledge and it knocked it loose.

Awesome! Amazing how much we can spend on fancy tools, wheel hub removers...yadda yadda yadda, and what works is whacking it with a big-o-hammer! :th_biggrin2:
