Stuck Between A Rock and a Hard Place

I'm stuck. I love my car... But it's a GT. I want a GTP. And another downfall is that it is a '97. vacuummmmm. It has 225,xxx on the body and 135,xxx on the tranny and engine. Very well maintained. New brakes, tires, struts. What do you think I could get out of it?

Anywho, this is the car I want. 99 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP
What do you think? It's got quite a few miles on it so... Could I get the price to go down?

True! I would need a PCM tune right? Different gear ratios? And with the tranny, what can I do for it? It's the vacuum transmission.

that gtp is so not worth the price. however, a gtp is so worth it. but if you're in hard times, motor and tranny like bio said. find u a buddy and make it happen. then again, you might want to match up a "top swap" into your vehicle. up to you. i like my gtp just fine, after having a GT.

My dad's friends own a race shop and build late model race cars and what not and I think they would be able to do this for me.

Or just take the car there and have them "help" you do it. Working on it with someone who knows is such a greater experience then just dropping it off running and coming back to pick it up running and its faster.

That's the lazy man's way.

But if your lazy...then by all means have at cha...I've just been the hands on type ever since I was little when it came to stuff like this.

could just buy a 98+ motor and trans?

but the GTP you linked i would maybe pay 2k/2.5k for but im not a fan of the color. also fram filter's ftl

There are GTP's with lower mileage and in better shape all around me for under $3k. I would keep looking.

Otherwise, if your car is clean, engine swap it and smile.

I agree with the swap, you will appreciate your car a lot better if you did that than if you just got rid of your GT just to get a GTP.

Around my area, that is about the going rate for a car like that. For some reason, GP's bring more money here than in other areas.
