Strut top press in studs

GTP042001

New member
Hello,

I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. I was installing new struts assemblies when I stripped the top press in stud. The strut tower brace caused the studs to be a bit short for the nuts. The nut went on easy but stripped as I was tightening them down. I tightened each one a little at a time. The studs on the new strut assemblies are not a strong grade. Anyways, does anyone know where I can buy some? I was trying get one off the old strut assy but I started to mash the end of the bolt. Thanks for any info.

Use a c clamp to press the stud out the strut mount heat it up too. What stb are you using? I've yet to see one that thick to cause your issue

yeah, those don't get torqued that much so when you stripped them you were going with too high level of gudentite.
