Strange issue with turning

OK I have a 2000 GTP I just picked up last night. It was a friends father who babied it but had fell ill and recently passed so I bought the car from his wife but she mentioned that there was a strange issue when you made a left turn which I was OK with. So anyway when I turn or even just have the car running and turn the wheel left to almost max turn the steering wheel jerks without me touching it to the right.. Kinda like the wheel has a remote control attached so I assume it's probably the rack and pinion but never had this issue with my past GPs. Also no PS whine, fluid leak etc
 


could be a broken rack mount. the ear can snap off the rack leaving one side free to move. need to get it off the ground and get under it and look things over.
