Stock Throttle Body O.D.?

What is the outside diameter of the stock throttle body? I need to order a silicone elbow, as I'm going to replace my Wizaired duct, but am unsure if what size to get. IIRC it's less than 4" but greater than 3.5".:th_nervous:
 


I was thinking it was 3.5". I can take a measurement for you with my calipers when I get home if no one comes up with an answer before then.

Since I have an Aeroforce gauge, I've been watching a lot of things that normally I'll only look at on occasions. It seems like everytime the HAI/CAI/FWI question comes up, someone will say "my HAI IAT's are only a couple of degrees above ambient shortly after moving". Since I've been watching the IAT with my Wizaired on, I thought now would be a good time to test the potential to try the less cluttered look of a HAI and be able to watch it in real time.

Needless to say that test was a bust for the HAI. Driving in to work my IAT's never got below 10* above ambient. Most of the time they were around 15* above ambient going 73 MPH. By the time I got to the parking space, in my parking garage the temps had reached 129* and this was on a 77* morning.:th_angry2: The car even felt sluggish as it normally loves the 70* temp days. It wasn't so happy today.

The most I've ever seen with the Wizaired was 15* over and that was a hot day in stop and go traffic.

Anyway the Wiz duct is looking a little worn so it's time for a more durable option.
 
I got the TB size while I was putting the Wizaired back on.

Update on the HAI temps. This afternoon it was 93* outside. Driving home on the interstate my IAT's were as high as 130*. I believe that happened when the fans kicked on and filled the engine bay with 186* hot air from the radiator. I have and IC cooant temp gauge and it was running about 13* hotter than normal as well.

With all of this, I can honestly say that an open cone intake cannot be for performance. I noticed even ZZP now has a note on their MPS page that those with Open Cone intakes should run one pulley size larger.

Now I just need to make a new Wizaired duct. Mine is still instact but looking a little ragged.

I have actually contemplated ways to duct the air flow from the radiator fans away from the engine bay. But alas, what to do with it and how to get it there are challenges for such a cramped engine bay. But then again, the OEM's use that heat for the advantage of fuel economy.

Im sorry about not getting back on here with the throttle body size. What did it end up being? I barely stepped in the house yesterday, just long enough to throw down my work things and walk out the back door to get the Rodeo ready for the trip to Branson. I saw the throttle body on the work bench but I just never reconnected again with telling you Id get the measurements, so I apologize for not doing what I said I would do for you.
 
I didn't know you were going to Branson... I did see you were a sponsoring vendor though. Glad to hear you will be there.

No problem on the TB, it's easy for time to slip by and things forgotten...believe me I understand. Anyway it was right at 3.75", using a tape measure. Too small for a 4" sleeve and too big for a 3.5" unless it's pliable. 3.5 an 4 seem to be the standard for silicone elbows.:th_shakinghead2:

UPDATE on the Intake temps. Checking them this morning with the Wizaired on and IAT's were right at ambient. The intercooler coolant temps stayed low enough not to even move the needle on the temp gauge.
 


Didn't the WizAired come with a "sleeve" for the TB to make it 4"? Mine did, which is required since the WizAired's tubing is 4".

There is a sleeve, which I was hoping not to use. I've decided to mod this new Wizaired like I did my old one, so I can just use the stock f-duct. I was going to mod the box last night, but to make it clean looking I need to spend an hour or two.

Ive put a 3.5" coupling on there before. But you are right, it takes some shoe horning to make it work.

If I had to wrestle with it, I'd probably get mad and break something. That last 1/16th of an inch, it's almost there thing, sometimes brings out Mr. Hyde.:eek::th_shakinghead1::th_biggrin2:

Yeah and that also caused my FWI to slip right of when motor movement occured...im guessing because of the ''lip'' on the tb not being there any more. removed it and it was fine.

Probably didn't have it on there tight enough. I pull on the tubing pretty hard every time I put it on to make sure it is secure.
 


Over the past 3 years, I've never had the duct slip off either, but like Sabrewings, I pull and turn in it to make sure it's tight and that doesn't happen. It would be bad to be pulling in unfiltered gritty air.:th_lipssealed2:
