So I'm slowly building my system, Jackhammer 10" with matching box and still undecided on amp. However, I'm using the stock head unit, for two reasons: I like the steering wheel controls, and because where I travel if they see a aftermarket HU, they steal it. I know it can be done, I'm just curious what all I need to do it, and what I do with the RCAs and yadda yadda. And also taking suggestions for an amp.
 


go to crutchfield.com and act like your gonna buy an aftermarket HU .. radio controls will work with a different HU. And use RCA's instead of a line output converter or your signal to your amp is going to suck.
 
Get a line out converter & wire it to you rear speakers..it will allow you to use RCA's to hook your amp up...it'll work fine untill you up grade to new HU..
