Still having KR issues

Hello, I'm still having an issue with KR, let me start by saying a bit about my car. I drive a 2005 GTP Comp G with 125000 miles. the car has Speed Daddy headers, 3" high flow cat, K&N Cold Air Intake, 3.6" SP Pulley, Overkill Tune, fresh Autolite 104 plugs and wires.

When I go wide open throttle I sometimes get over 9 degrees of KR at around 10 to 11 Psi of boost. (I'm scanning with the Torque app) the car still runs great and this happens in all weather conditions.

a few things that I think might be adding to my issue is the #4 coil terminal is rusted (I plan on replacing the coil when I can)
and the last owner welded in a 2" pipe to the front of the resonator where the down pipe bolts on. I'm pretty sure my headers go from 3" down to 2 1/2" at the resonator so its not a smooth flow of air.

I'm not sure if my exhaust issue is enough to cause KR or not but I kind of think the rusted coil terminal is.
also, the overkill tune is set for a 180 degree thermostat but I am still running the stock one. (I'm also planning on replacing the thermostat soon)

oh one more thing, my transmission dip stick tube is touching the header, do you think I might be getting false KR??? thanks

if the coil was the cause it would have misfires.

what timing you hitting wot?

what rpm does the kr start? is it at the shift, or in gear during a pull through the rpm range and it builds to 9º kr?

Mix in some high octane gas to see if it's actual knock or could be false. Probably is real, but just to be sure mix in some race fuel or 5 or 6 gallons of E85. If it goes away, then it's real.

my transmission dipstick tube rests on the header as well, but I have a Lokar flexible tube, not that it makes much difference because I know I don't have 9* of kr anywhere.

I not getting any misfires. It happens while in gear pulling through the RPS's. ill check the timing and look more at the RPS's on my way home today.

anywhere from -5 to +5 is said to be ok, i like it to be a -5 or less at idle and cruising around and as close to zero wot as you can, a bit on the neg side is ok.

keep in mind as odd as this is, neg is rich, pos #'s are lean. better on the rich side then the lean side.

and the fuel trims may take a few days to fully learn as well. if its still hitting zero wot its not fully learned yet, like i said before, the odds of it hitting 0 is rare even with a scan.

they read 0 wot until they have learned, once learned it will say a neg or pos #. and the trims will be pretty much all over the place at idle and cruise for a while too till learned.

good because mine are all over the place. about -7 at WOT.

would it be ok if I emailed you my log file sometime?

you could email it over depending in the way its saved ill be able to open it.

how many days the new pcm installed now? things can take a few days to fully settle in. ive had my wot ltft change a few times before they fully learn and hit the same thing time and time again.

my last tune change the trims at wot were 0 for about 5 miles, then -4. then the next day -2, then a day or so later it locked in at -3 every time. granted, im the king of short trips, and ill take up to a week for my trims to learn due to my lack of driving it far distances.

I've been running this setup for about 2 months now. I have the log files saved at work but I can't remember the file format. I'll let you know tomorrow

I looked at the log files. I have them in an Excel format .xlsx & .csv format.

the long term fuel trim at WOT this morning was -12.5 so im a bit rich

I would say a bit rich is looking at it euphemistically. in my opinion, -5 is a bit rich.

another thing I noticed this morning with my WOT pull was at high RPS's it was starting to spit and sputter before it went into 4th gear. im thinking maybe my rusted coil terminal isn't bad enough for a miss fire but maybe its just not getting enough spark???

it could be a misfire from a coil, but with how rich it has been running, your spark plugs could be fouled. I would check them out first. it could also be bogging down because there is too much fuel.

just how fast are you going that its shifting into over drive? dont let it go into 4 th, its not made for that kind of speed. put the shiftier in 3 rd gear for those runs.

-12 is real rich too.
whats idle and cruise?

what I'm doing is when I pull out onto the highway I'm flooring it to WOT and holding it till around 100 mph. I live way out in the country so traffic isn't an issue. once it get to the interstate i set my cruise control to 72 mph and my fuel trim was at 1.56.

At idle stopped at a red light my fuel trim is 12.5

ill have to use my paddle shifter to keep it in 3rd but I don't even think I need to since its rich way before it shifts into 4th. im going to baby the car for a bit till I can get this issue figured out. I'm really hoping with everybody's here we can resolve this.

am I running the right spark plug??? Im running the Autolite 104's. I cant remember the gap but it was a dimension I found on this forum
